Harringworth, Northamptonshire

A courtyard and terrace have been rejuvenated to provide an inviting place to entertain and socialise.
The levels of the space were reconfigured to connect this newly designed area with the rest of the garden, creating one coherent space.
The house, made from locally quarried sandstone, was the influencing factor for the material choices in the garden. It was important to ensure that the hard landscaping was in-keeping with the age of the property and retained the rustic, timeless atmosphere of the garden.
PLANS AND DRAWINGS

The planting in the garden softens the terraces, as well as helping to define different areas and add plenty of seasonal interest. Close to the house, topiary spheres have been used to add structure, which are contrasted by airy ornamental grasses. Tucked in one of the planted borders, next to the main dining space, a water feature adds sound and movement.
